The third Ski Tour Clinic & Demo on Wednesday, February 15 at 9am, at Eldora Ski Resort started off with a heavy overnight snowfall, cold, and slippery driving conditions in town, which unfortunately deterred 3 of the 6 registered attendees from making the clinic & demo.
Part of skiing is surely getting to the slopes, which made me realize this is a valuable topic to cover in an upcoming blog post.
The weather on the hill was actually bluebird, cold, and crisp new snow, which made for stellar conditions.
The crew was composed by 3 novices, 1 who had done the sport before and had gear but never had the change to learn how to use it properly, and 2 who were endurance athletes wanting to try the sport.
We tried the new Daytime Access uphill route in the trees, and it was awesome to give these first-timers a true ‘sidecountry’ experience away from the groomers and the crowds, tucked away in the stillness of the forest.
Everyone loved the morning and came away stoked about the sport!
Ski touring is an intricate sport with lots of gear, moving parts, and ever-changing weather conditions, terrain, and situations: I’m a true believer that with expert instruction and the right gear, everyone can master the sport: book your next ski touring clinic & demo!
